Sandhills Suri celebrates its Sweet Sixteen!
Xmas 2016 featuring our first cria: Sandusky
We're back and GRAYter than ever! :) We have big plans in store for 2017, and can't wait to share them all with you! We've spent the last four years out of the limelight of the industry, spending time critiquing our genetics and relishing the day-in-the-life moments of simply raising these magnificent animals.
This year, specifically this past February, marks a big milestone for Sandhills Suri Alpacas; we're celebrating our sixteenth year in the industry, and still loving every moment. Over the course of the years, we've proven ourselves to be experts in every aspect of the industry; revealing our knowledge of genetics through our offspring and our knowledge of health management through the many breeders we have been able to help through the years.
The past sixteen years have been years of growth for our farm- through knowledge, pure numbers, and friendships. I have spent almost all my life growing up immersed in the alpaca industry, and I wouldn't trade it for anything (yes- I'm the one behind the blogs! My mom has had great trust in me to allow me to be in charge of our Openherd page for the past five years).
Our family has grown dramatically over the years, welcoming many four-legged friends each year. We have had great success in achieving our goals and learned many life lessons along the way. One thing is for certain, and that is we would never be where we are in the industry today without the guidance and mentorship we received in the beginning- so thank you.
We are grateful for each and every day with these animals. Our relationship with them is symbiotic, with our time and efforts being reciprocated by the love and quality we receive from them. Although, they won't be reading this, I have to say thank you to our herd. Each and every one of our animals is vital to our ability to produce the industry's best.
If you're a fellow breeder, I hope this post furthers your love for your herd and this industry! There is truly nothing else like it.
