Peruvian Import
Full Peruvian female from the Allianza region, known for its productions of suris with high luster, fineness and density. She was imported through Canada in 1998.
Description
Columbine was purchased at auction for $30,500 in 2006 from Dr. Toni Cotton. Columbine possesses a fine fleece with good coverage over her entire body. She is uniquely a solid color throughout, with very little variation in shades and tones making her fleece harvest wonderful for producing a uniform fleece for further processing as a single color.
Her sire is Daric, a dark brown substantial male from the 5th Peruvian import. Daric has produced many colors, including greys and blacks. We own another one of his daughters, Liberty Star, and love her rose grey fleece. Daric has great coverage and excellent locking characteristics, supported by good luster and density. Her dam is Elisa, who was imported in 1998 through Canada from the Allianza region of Peru. The Allianza co-op is know for its high end lustrous, and dense suris and huacayas. Most farms covet these special imported females and males.
Columbine has had 3 crias, and would have had more but we cut back our breeding efforts during the recession significantly. Her first cria was by true black Modelo Especial, WRSR Peruvian Mystique, who won multiple color championships for her fleece, including Black Color Champions at the AOBA World Fleece Show. Her 2nd cria was another female, WRSR Navajo's Raindance by our own Navajo Gold. Raindance was the same color as her sire, beige/light fawn, and with an incredible fine and silky fleece. Her 3rd cria was a brilliant white and high luster male, Fast Break, who's sire was Accoyo Patchouli. All 3 of her crias have had wonderful fleece characteristics. Columbine seems to possess the ability to produce the same color as the male to which she was bred, taking some of the mystery out of the breeding selection for color. Choose the color male you would like to have in the cria, then breed her to him!
Columbine comes with a complimentary breeding to any Wild Rose herd sire for non-auction purchases, including greys, patterns, black, full Accoyos, fawns, and maroons. Choose from among the many champions and colors to get the cria that you want!
