Description
This girl is a direct result of quality genetics in her heritage. Her champion dam, ATV Enhanced, was sired by full Peruvian half-Accoyo ATV Zephyr and his Ppperuvian Sedoso's bloodline.
Frost's sire is the full Peruvian/Accoyo white herdsire, Pucara Kahuna's Accoyo Killara, a son of the incomparable Pucara Kahuna. Alan Cousill from Pacura stated about Killara,He's just so bloody good. Thick with fleece. Greasy with luster. Ropey thick locking. Gorgeous head and sturdy frame. Is it any wonder with Kahuna as the sire..?!"
Frost did well in the show ring. Her first show was a big jump into a heavily competitive level 5 Great Western Alpaca Show (GWAS), and she did awesome! When we saw the class of 10 alpacas walk in, we started to sweat at the impressive alpacas showing! The 1st, 2nd and 3rd alpacas were from top notch programs ($$$) of exceptional genetics. Frost beat out 6 other alpacas and was standing shoulder to shoulder with top breeding programs in the 'big leagues'! In her second show, she easily earned the blue ribbon and judge David Balboza's praise for consistent locking throughout the blanket and to the skin. She gathered blue ribbons and judge's comments like: "very good luster throughout!", "nicely balanced and proportioned and tracked true when walking", "beautiful luster all the way through", "eyecatching", "locking coming back well".
Frost's first cria, sired by champion dark male Bosco, was a beautiful dark brown male with a glowing luster and richly colored locking. Frost took very good care of him and he was alert and strong, but he was lost unfortunately the next day. However, we had a huacaya maiden having trouble bonding with her first cria the same day, and Frost stepped in and adopted it! Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, we thanked Frost for her altruistic attitude and welcome our cross-breed family to the herd! Frost is an excellent dam with great mothering skills!
Unfortunately, the next year, she had a terrible dystocia where the cria died en utero and we almost lost her. She may have scar tissue and and is occasionally draining (but the vet doesn't think she has an infection) but hasn't for a long while. The vet said that a breeding cycle (whether or not she impregnates) should help clear that up. But we aren't breeding suris anymore** We want her to go to a good home - hence the disclosure for proper care.**
