Description
The lovely Lilac Rose - The prior owner of her dam had wanted to name her Grace when she was born, but we already had that name in our herd. So we went with a visual description of her fleece, the color hues of nearly pink purple tips - you had to see in person. Her mother "Mary" is a real doll and this girl was born curious and sweet as can be. We can hardly stand it she is so cute and personable!
Motherhood has just seemed to make Lilac even sweeter. She was one of the rare moms that licked her baby from head to toe upon delivery - a matter of fact she licked a few of us months following lol. Witnessing her birth was one of those extremely special moments. Besides textbook delivery, within minutes of her being born, Lilac was licking her baby and baby was kissing back and flipping up her tail. Their video got a lot of shares. Matter of fact I uploaded it on youtube so it can be viewed here.
At shows, California classic Lilac took a 2nd place in halter as the youngest in the class and a 1st place in walking fleece! Then at the Great Western Alpaca Show she took a 2nd place in halter and walking fleece in a tough competition.
Her fleece exhibits wonderful luster as affirmed by multiple judges. Fleece was noted as well under 18 micron, super fine with extremely fine secondary fibers coming in noted. From two different fleece judges very similar scores of uniformity of length 7/10 uniformity of micron 4/5 absence of guard hair 7/10 lock structure 5/5 uniformity of color a 17/20 in fineness/handle and luster. We are happy she wow'd the fleece judges and we can't tell you how much we value their expertise. She recently took a 2nd place in a spin-off. Now that I see how fine it is, it still held an alarming amount of hay so we could do better next time. We added purple bamboo to her fleece for yarn - turned out beautiful!
Her sire, Greystone's Marquis certainly gets an atta boy here. His genetics blend two big grey lines together. Those breeding for rare grey suris need to check out this baby's daddy.
Lilac delivered a real beauty by WI the Admiral. We were hoping to add some density in fleece and were willing to gamble on color. Pleasantly surprised with an intriguing rose grey swirl with silver and added density! We really hoped for a repeat but Admiral is now residing in Oklahoma. Bred her to our Champion Kiss of the King and she delivered a fawn guy with white points.
bred her to VNF Drakkar a gorgeous freckled rose grey son from GLR Armani but it appears she did not take. Hope to try early next summer.
