Alpacas of Marin

Description

Diva is one of those very rare alpacas--a "hua-suri". Her dam is our prized white huacaya female, Lauca, who is in the top 1% EPD each year for fleece weight. Her sire is....well, we don't know who her sire is, but he's a suri! So, she is phenotypically a suri (suri is dominant) but has the softness and a bit of crimp of a huacaya. She is beige in color, and when she was young her ears were ligth fawn. I don't see that anymore, but thought I'd mention it. And she is dense! Her raw fleece is snapped up by the hand spinners each year--for a pretty price, I might add.

There is no reason that Diva can't breed, and I expect she would be a very good mother. Bred to a huacaya, she has a 50% chance of producing a huacaya. Bred to suri she will produce suri.
