At Great Lakes Ranch, the vision of an idyllic yet profitable lifestyle has been a working reality for 36 years. It began as a young man's dream to raise fun and beautiful livestock- alpacas, llamas and Tibetan yak, in a peaceful rural setting. Gratefully, since 1981, I am honored to be one of only a handful of Americans who have made a lifelong career of raising alpacas and llamas and Tibetan yak. My involvement in all phases of the alpaca and llama industries has included my service as a board director for both the International Llama Association and the Great Lakes Alpaca Association and as an advisor for Llamas Magazine and as a member of the Suri Network Marketing Committee. I have served on the National Show Committees for both alpacas and llamas, judged numerous shows and have been a speaker at national conferences. My wife Jandy is a past president and currently a board member of the International Yak Association.
Jandy and I are committed to the long-term vitality of the Tibetan yak industry. By design, the size of our operation allows us to be hands-on in every aspect of our herd and the management of our business and to personally attend the nation's biggest events. Our animals are all halter trained as calves and we work hard to maintain a herd of healthy manageable animals. It also affords us the time we feel is essential to dedicate to our valued customers on an on-going basis, and yet still enjoy our incredible surroundings. We are committed to breeding and raising elite Imperial Tibetan IYAK Foundation Registered yak and still have a passion for what it takes to do so, even after 36 years in the business.
If you are truly interested in learning more about investing in a rewarding lifestyle that will help you to build a wonderful future, come visit us in beautiful Leelanau County, right in the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and the place we love to call home.
